Rangeela Raja: Drama with Doubles gets down!


The latest release Rangeela Raja is a 2019 and Indian Comedy- Drama movie that casts the king of Comedy GOVINDA in a double role. Along with him, the movie features Mishika Chourasia, Anupama Agnihotri and Digangana Suryavanshi. The movie is directed by Sikander Bharti and produced under Chiragdeep International. The Screenplay is given by Pahlaj Nahalani and well written by Raj Verma and Khalid Azmi. The movie got released on 18th January 2019 and earned Rs. 9.19 Crores at the Box Office.

Movie Plot

In this movie, superstar Govinda is seen playing a double role as Vijendra Pratap Singh who is a flirty business tycoon and Ajay Pratap Singh who is the younger brother of Vijendra Pratap Singh. Digangana Suryavanshi as Shivranjani is playing the role of Vijendra Pratap’s wife. Mishika Chourasia as Natasha is a strong woman working along with Vijendra Pratap Singh, who is willing to explore in her career. The younger brother leads a life of a pious yogi and decides to bring his elder brother on right track. Anupama Agnihotri as Aalekha is playing the role of the love interest of Ajay Pratap Singh.

Rangeela Raja is an unofficial remake of a Tamil movie “Netrikkan”. The movie has also been in controversies as the Producer Pahlaj Nihalani criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for delaying the review 40 days ahead of submission with 20 cuts. Then the production appealed to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal and finally, the movie was cleared by CBFC with only 3 cuts.

 The movie was criticized after the release by Raja Sen who is the writer in The Hindustan Times by saying:

“For the love of Govinda, don’t watch this film. Nihalani, I’m sad to report, plumbs the depths to snatch this innocence from the actor.”
