Julia Roberts is in talks to star in the studio’s episodic adaptation of Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win Tv show. After the first season of Amazon’s 2018 series Homecoming. Jo Piazza’s latest novel, Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win, is being adapted for TV, with Amazon Studios backing the effort and Julia Roberts in line to take the title role.
Roberts’ performance in ex-military thriller Homecoming led to a Golden Globe nomination. Though, from the story’s podcast origins, she will not be returning for Season 2.
Along with Amazon Studios, the project is backed by wiip and Roberts’ Red Om Films production company. The series is being adapted by Jon Robin Baitz, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist playwright who created the ABC series Brothers & Sisters and the NBC miniseries The Slap. This is a coup for Amazon Studios. The novel is an insightful portrait of what it takes for a woman to run for national office in America today. The book follows Walsh, a candidate a former Silicon Valley executive.
