Avrodh The Siege Within Review
There’s no doubt in saying that the nine episodes series celebrates the courage of the Indian Armed Forces as it takes the viewer through numerous operations, while building up to the final surgical strike. The series showcases how terrorists infiltrated the army camps and executed the deadly Uri attacks on that fateful night in September 2016. It actually hits the ground running by showing a soldier’s reaction to the loss of a fellow soldier. It is not every day and not every series that shows the soldiers breaking down.
All the performers have done a fab job and impressed us with commendable performances. Amit Sadh as Major Videep Singh makes a dedicated entry and does justice to his impeccable and committed performance. Be it be Darshan Kumaar as impressive Major Raunaq Gautam or Madhurima Tuli as sincere journalist Namrata or Neeraj Kabi as Sailesh Malviya, National Security Advisor and Arif Zakaria as Ali Raza Khan, the NIA investigator each and everyone added their caliber and grace to their respective roles.
Again if we talk about Vikram Gokhale as the Prime Minister and Pavail Gulati they both make an impact. Anil George in the role of Abu Hafiz maintains a cool performance.
Worth to mention that the military drama series Avrodh, rather than being high on emotions, focuses on the planning that went into the Indian government’s decision to retaliate with surgical strikes. The only drawback is through the sequences involving the character of Abu Hafiz, played by Anil George. The language spoken by Hafiz is the hardcore Kashmiri and at times, it gets difficult to comprehend what he is saying, and you need to demand for subtitles.
Avrodh: the back-story of the surgical strike
The nine-episode series is like a rollercoaster ride with thrills and scares and writers Harmanjeet Singha, Sudeep Nigam, Abhishek Chatterjee and Aadhar Khurana are succeeded in constructing it. Director Raj Acharya manages to make Avrodh grounded, which is in turn the best part of such a heart-pounding action series.
Overall if you are a fan of the Special Forces Avrodh is a motivating watch. Whatever might be the reason, watch Avrodh to understand the back-story of the surgical strike or the tragedy of childhoods lost within the Valley.
